Tasty: A Performance Experimentation (2025)

performance art
developed and performed as part of *SCAPE Community Arts Residency 2025-2026 with the TasteTest collective

Tasty is an immersive performance contemplating the experience of discovering food online and the sensations that emerge from the digital stimulation. With food, foley, and swivel chairs, screen-inspired stagings are felt with the body, and illuminated with each audience’s headlamp. The performance was devised as an offline simulation of being online looking at and for food, to provoke reflection on the strange-ness of online food discovery, desire and satiation from the screen.

Conceptualised, devised and performed by collaborators Dawn Lim and Kristen Oliveiro, the staging put audiences of 15 in embodied scenarios to experience watching viral food recipes and “hidden gem” reels, and judging what to eat based on Google Maps reviews and ratings.
